Question Description
Hi, I have got 1130 in GRE & 88 in TOEFL. I have 70% in B.Tech, 93% in 12th, with no backlogs. Is it safer for me to apply for fall 2011? Can I get admission in universities that have rank equivalent to rank of University of Minnesota - Twin Cities? How many rounds will be there for applications? What are their deadlines? Will it be anyway beneficial if I apply early - like in first round?
Answer

Many reports have shown that the early applicants got the significant advantages over the regular applicants. There are high chances of getting admission in high ranked universities if applied earlier. For instance, 16% of early applicants got admission in Stanford University while the overall admission rate was only 10% in 2009. Therefore, it is definitely beneficial to apply early. Both your TOEFL and GRE scores seem to be slightly lower than the standard score needed for the universities equivalent to University of Minnesota - Twin Cities. It will be very difficult for you to get admission with this GRE score. I will suggest you to retake GRE test and score well, if you really want to get into one of the universities which is equivalent to University of Minnesota - Twin Cities.
