Question Description
I am planning to go to the US for studies, but I plan to study only part-time there, so that I can have more working hours and make more money to support my education and studies there. Are international students allowed to be enrolled at the universities just as a part-time students?
Answer

It's NO in most cases. International students are not allowed to study part-time in the US except for the very limited programs like Nursing. All the international students who intend to study in the US should be admitted as a full-time student to study in the US legally under their F-1 visa status.

The full-time credit hours for quarter based universities is 8, whereas it's 12 for semester based universities. Therefore, if you intend to join a Quarter System based university or college, you have to register for at least 8 credit hours classes each quarter. Similarly, if you intend to join a Semester System based university or college, you have to take at least 12 credit hours each semester.

I hope it helps. Cheers :)
