Question Description
For studying in Canada, how important is French language? Is it important to learn French before I leave for Canada? I have done IELTS and have 7.0 score. I think I am good in English but is it still necessary for me to learn French?

French is surely important if you're going to France. About 50% of Canadian population speak French language. Even though you've chosen course in English language, you may need French language to get adjusted into Canadian society.

It is better you learn French before you leave for Canada. If you've planned to do part-time jobs in Canada, French language is must. If you know French, you are most probable to find jobs easily in Canada. Many students in Canada are having problem with finding part-time jobs because of having no knowledge in French language.

If you have planned to immigrate to Canada, French language carries seperate score which increases your possibility to be chosen as an immigrant.

English and French both are official languages of Canada. French can be important in a province like Quebec, but in other parts of Canada, English is more important.
