I've heard most the universities award students with merit based scholarships. What is merit based scholarship? How is it awarded? Please give me some information on merit based scholarship. Thanks.
Scholarship that is awarded by a university or college for best performance of a student is known as merit-based scholarship. This type of scholarship is awarded for best performance of students in studies, sports, or other activities. Almost all the universities offer this type of scholarships but requirements to obtain it can be different.

Merit based Scholarship is a scholarship that is awarded to a student on their academic, artistic, athletic or any other extracurricular activities and community service record. This scholarship is paid directly by the institution, rather than issued by the student.
