Answers

Many people seem to have misconception about the full form of MBBS. It is the bachelor program for medicine which is actually a combination of two degrees which are:

MB: Bachelor of Medicine, and
BS: Bachelor of Surgery.

However, MBBS is commonly understood as Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery so information you have is also correct.

I had asked same question to one of my friends and she had answered "Master of Biology and Bachelor of Science". I thought it was correct because it was logical. But later I came to know the real full form of MBBS was "Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery". Many people are confused about full form of MBBS but be confirmed - it is BACHELOR OF MEDICINE AND BACHELOR OF SURGERY.

It's a mix of Latin and English words.

MB stands Medicinae Baccalaureus which means Bachelor of Medicine in Latin.

And, BS stands for Bachelor of Surgery in English.

MBBS comes from the Latin word "Medicinae Baccalaureus, Baccalaureus Chirurgiae" are the two first professional degrees awarded upon graduation from medical school in medicine and surgery by universities in various countries. The naming suggests that they are two separate degrees; however, in practice, they are usually treated as one and awarded together.
