Question Description
What is the scoring pattern in IELTS? I came to know that there are four modules in IELTS and total band score in all four module is 9.0. But I do not know how these band score is calculated. How many correct answer in each module gives how much score? Please suggest me.

The band score in IELTS is the average score for four module of IELTS. The four modules consists reading, writing, listening and speaking tests. Total score in each individual module is 9.0. Band score is calculated after averaging and rounding scores in each individual module according to IELTS Band Conversion Table. There are 40 - 40 questions in reading and listening module of IELTS.

The scoring pattern for reading and listening module is as follows:
- For 20 correct answers, 5.5 score is given
- For 25 correct answers, 6 score is given
- For 28 correct answers, 6.5 score is given
- For 30 correct answers, 7 score is given
- For 33 correct answers, 7.5 score is given
- For 35 correct answers, 8 score is given

- For 40 correct answers, 9 score is given

The writing module consists of Report writing and Essay writing. Total score for Report writing is 3.6 and for Essay Writing is 5.4. According to the writing ability of the test giver, the score is given in this module.

Likewise, according to the speaking ability of the test giver, score is given. But like in other modules, the fractional score is not given in speaking module.
