Question Description
I found that most of the UK universities have requirements of IELTS with 6.5 overall band score for international student to study MBA in their business schools. I have done GMAT. Will I be accepted only with my GMAT scores or I have to do IELTS as well?

IELTS is mandatory in most of the British universities for admission in MBA programs if youíre not from English speaking country or havenít completed your undergraduate degree in English language. For admission at reputed university in UK, you must score at least 7.0 in IELTS. Your 6.5 band score in IELTS may not be sufficient for admission at reputed Business Schools in UK. However there are many business schools which accept applications from students with IELTS band score equivalent to yours.

GMAT is generally considered separate requirement than IELTS. So for admission youíll need both GMAT and IELTS test scores.

Even with a 6.5 I'd still apply to the reputable institutions in the UK. My wife achieved 6.5 in the IELTS exam when she took it and she was still accepted by King's College, University of London to study her Master's Degree, even though they required 7.5 in the IELTS test. She was accepted as her other academic qualifications were of a high standard and she also had a lot of work experience with English speaking companies.

If this sounds similar to your background, then I wouldn't worry too much about your 6.5. Really concentrate on writing the best applications you've ever written and really show your skills off.
