Question Description
I had my International passport stolen by robbers. Although Iíve got a new one now, what should I tell to the consular if Iím inquired about this issue during a visa interview? What can I do to prove it was stolen?

Thanks.
Answer

You said your old passport was stolen and have got a new one. If you have a new passport then you must have evidence of loss of previous passport which you used to re-issue your passport. Show that evidence to prove that your previous passport was lost. If you donít have any such evidence, you can ask police officials to issue you a letter indicating your passport was stolen.

But if asking police to issue a letter isnít possible, honestly tell the consular what truth is. The consular will surely understand your issue and problem you have faced. Good Luck.
