The process for obtaining study visa for Finland depends on country of residence of the student.

Students from Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Iceland, Switzerland and Liechtenstein don’t need to obtain a visa to live, work, or study in Finland.

Students from nation belonging to EU don’t require obtaining a visa before their arrival in Finland. To study for less than three months they don’t even require taking any permission but if their stay is going to be more than three months, they’ll have to register themselves to police. In this case, students will require reason to stay in Finland, sufficient funds to study, and medical insurance certificate.

All the other students must obtain student visa for studying in Finland before they leave their country. Students must apply for Finnish visa in Embassy of Finland or in Finnish Consulate General’s office with a filled visa application form and all other required documents for visa.

For more information on visa, students are advised to contact nearest Finnish Diplomatic mission or visit the website of Finnish embassy. The website for Finnish embassy is different for different country.

Some of Finnish Embassy websites are:
United States: http://www.finland.org/
United Kingdom: http://www.finland.org.uk/
India: http://www.finland.org.in/
China: http://www.finland.cn/
