Where to apply for F-1 study visa in India?

Question Description
Where are the Visa sections of US embassy located in India? What are the addresses of the US consular sections located? How many consular sections with authority to issue visa is there in India?

US Consular Sections in India are divided into four Consular Districts each covering different states and union territories in it. Each of these districts have jurisdiction over the defined territory. Student applying for F-1 Student Visa in India must appear in person for the interview in the US Visa Office that has jurisdiction over the consular district where student has been resident for the last six months.
The Consular districts and address detail of US Consular Sections in India are as follows:

New Delhi Consular District

Student from following states and territories must appear for interview in New Delhi Consular District to obtain US Student visa:

Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Rajasthan, Uttaranchal, Uttar Pradesh, and the Kingdom of Bhutan

Chennai Consular District
