Question Description
What percentage of applicants is able to get student visa of USA out of total applicants for F1 visa? What are the requirements that make me the strong contender for a student visa of USA? I do not want to be rejected. I heard that only few lucky students are able to get student visa of USA from a large pool of students. Is that true?

The main qualities that you must have to get the US visa are:

- good academic background in your previous studies
- good command in English (speaking, reading, writing, and listening). You should be able to show your command in English through good scores in English proficiency checking tests like TOEFL and IELTS.
- a good SAT score if you are going to study in undergraduate level
- a good GMAT (business related) or GRE (science and technology related) score to show your ability to study in postgraduate level studies
- intention to come back to your home country after you complete your studies in USA
- good financial status (enough bank balance and regular source of income to support your studies)

According to the Assistant Secretary of State, 82% of student visa applications were approved last year.

The three basic things they are looking for are: (1) you are really a student and are seriously pursuing studies in the US; (2) you have adequate financial resources to afford your studies; (3) you intend to return to your home country.
