Question Description
What do they stamp on my passport after German student visa application is refused? How do I know from my passport that I have been refused a student visa for Germany?
Answer

They stamp a date when your application was processed.

The stamp actually means that your application has been reviewed and process. German Embassies say that the stamp on your passport won't have any influence on the decisions made about other applications you submit to them in the future.
